Below, you will find answers to some of the most common questions we receive every day. If you still have a question after reading through everything, please be sure to call us and ask, as we are always happy to take the extra time to make sure you completely understand your dental health.
How do I know when it is time for a checkup?
Our doctors, as well as the American Dental Association, recommend that patients of all ages should have at least two checkups and cleanings per year, so if it has been more than six months since your last checkup, it is probably time to schedule your next one. At our dental office, we send out helpful reminders to our patients, so it is easy for them to keep up with their routine appointments.
Are dental implants the best choice for tooth replacement?
Yes, they are. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement solution that restores the entire structure of the tooth—root to crown. This not only provides an extremely stable base for the new teeth, but it also reestablishes support for the jaw in order to keep it both healthy and strong. Compared to other treatments, dental implants provide the most natural-looking, long-lasting, and comfortable results.
Can you improve the way my smile looks?
We certainly can, and we like to think that all of the services we provide can do just that. If you have an aesthetic problem with your smile, such as stains, gaps, or chipped teeth, then our cosmetic services can easily eliminate your flaws and give you a pristinely bright and uniform smile in just one or two appointments. Also, if you are missing any teeth or have some that are broken or fractured, our restorative services can quickly rebuild them and make them look like they once did.
Do you offer Invisalign for adults and children?
We do offer Invisalign for our adult and teenage patients who are wanting to straighten their teeth without getting metal braces, but we normally do not recommend Invisalign for young children because their teeth, mouth, and jaw still need to develop before it can be effective.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency?
If you or a loved one experience a sudden dental injury or develop severe dental pain, your first course of action should be to always call Amherst Dental Group. We are fully trained and equipped to handle a wide variety of dental emergencies, and we work hard to see all of our emergency patients as quickly as possible when they call in.
Should I be screened for oral cancer?
Yes. The American Cancer Society recommends that all patients should receive at least one oral cancer screening per year as early detection is the key to treating the disease successfully. Fortunately, your dentist can perform one during your regular checkup, and they can advise you on what to do should they find anything that causes concern.
